Congratulations to Garrett Anderson from the Rusk Chapter of the FFA and Clay Anderson from the Cloverleaf 4-H Club of Alto for their performance in the 2011 Hay Judging Competition.  Both of these unrelated Anderson boys secured the High-Point Individual score in their respective divisions.  For their performance, each of these young men will also be awarded a $1000.00 collegiate scholarship provided by the Cherokee County Ag. Business Committee.

The top three placing teams in the FFA Division all came from Rusk FFA Chapter. While the top three placing teams in the 4-H Division came respectively from Wells 4-H, Lookout 4-H of Jacksonville and Cloverleaf 4-H of Alto.

Please don't forget to send in a list of all your 4-H Members that will be participating in the 2011 Jr Hay Judging Competition by 5PM on Thursday October 6th, so that we will have ample time to check their grades/UIL Status .

Junior Hay Judging Clinic

The Ag & 4-H Agents of the Cherokee CEO will be hosting a 4-H Jr. Hay Judging Clinic at the Cherokee County Livestock & Expo Center on October 4, 2011 at 7PM. This event is free to all currently enrolled members of the (2011-2012) Cherokee County 4-H Program.

Due to the newly established "Partial Cost Recovery" System that has been established by Texas AgriLife Extension Service, we are no longer allowed to offer this training free of charge to FFA members. Though any and all FFA are welcome and encouraged to attend and participate, be aware that a fee of $10 per FFA member will be charged. Also be aware that this fee is not set by the local County Extension Office, instead it has been imposed by the State Office.

2011 Jr Hay Judging Competition

In the past the Jr. Hay Judging Competition has traditionally been held on on the third Monday in October. HOWEVER....due to scheduling issues, this year we are doing things a little different.
